Brighton Attorney, Former Watertown Council President Enter Senate Race

Two join Brownsberger, Hecht running for Tolman seat. Also, redistricting not an issue in race.

Former Watertown Town Council President Clyde Younger and Boston attorney Tim Schofield jumped into the race to replace state Sen. Steven Tolman, and other local politico is pondering a run. The Boston-based State House News Service reported that Younger and Schofield confirmed they plan to run for the senate seat. They join Watertown state Rep. Jonathan Hecht and Belmont's Rep. William Brownsberger, both Democrats, who are already campaigning for the post. A Brighton resident and Gulf War veteran who is a partner at a Beacon Hill law firm, Schofield is familiar with special elections, coming within 64 votes of becoming his neighborhood's state rep. in 2004, losing to current Rep. Hecht Announces Run For Tolman's Seat; Primary Set: Dec. 13

Watertown State Rep. joins Brownsberger in race to represent 2nd Suffolk and Middlesex District.

The Secretary of State's Office announced today, Oct. 13, that the primary election to fill the seat held by State Sen. Steven Tolman will be Tuesday, Dec. 13. And Will Brownsberger, who announced last month that he was running for the seat opened when Tolman was elected President of the Massachusetts ALF-CIO last week, will have a challenger in the Democrat primary. State Rep. Jonathan Hecht, who represents Watertown and West Cambridge on Beacon Hill, announced today that he is running to succeed the Brighton-native for the 2nd Suffolk and Middlesex District, which is comprised of Watertown, Belmont and parts of Cambridge, Allston-Brighton, the Fenway and the Back Bay.
