Belmont Fire Provides Komen 3-Day a New Pit Stop
Change in scheduled Belmont stop on the third day proves to be a huge success.
The Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure had a new pit stop in Belmont this year, hosted by the Belmont Fire Department. In past years, the Walk has used the Daniel Butler Elementary School on White Street. Last year, Assistant Fire Chief Angus Davison and his wife Karen participated in the walk in memory of his mother, Jane Davison, who died from breast cancer in 1981. While participating on day three, which takes a route through Belmont to Cambridge on the way to Boston, the Davisons noticed that the Butler was out of the way, and made the route a little awkward. It seemed to make much more sense to have the pit stop at fire headquarters on Trapelo Road, as the route went right past it. After some communication with the Walk organizers…
