UPDATE: Robbery Suspect Remains on the Lam

Belmont Police press release reveal suspect fled from get-away vehicle, still at large.

Below is a Belmont Police Department press release on today's robbery in Cushing Square. On Friday afternoon, August 24, 2012, at approximately 4:30 p.m., there was an armed robbery at the 93 Food Mart on Trapelo Road. A white male, wearing a red mask and hood, confronted the clerk with a knife and demanded cash from the register drawer. Witnesses described to police the vehicle used to flee the scene.   A short distance from the scene Belmont Police officers spotted a vehicle matching the description given by witnesses. Upon initiating a stop of the vehicle, the suspect driver exited the vehicle and ran from police. Police officers from Watertown and K9 units from Waltham and Arlington assisted in the search for the armed robbery suspect…

Cushing Square Store Robbed by Knife Wielding Youth

Police seeking white male in late-teens who took an undetermined amount from convenience store on Trapelo Road.

Belmont and Watertown Police officers are searching backyards off Trapelo Road by foot and with a K9 unit for a young man who used a knife to rob an employee of the 93 FoodMart in Cushing Square of an undetermined amount of money. Around 4:50 p.m., the young man approached employee Suresh Pandey with a note in his hand. The robber – wearing a red cloth mask and a red scarf over his head – pointed a locking knife at Pandey and gave him the note that read, "Give me the money, Hurry up." "He looked like a kid but he was holding a knife so I opened the register and gave him the money. He saw there was $50 bill and he said 'Give me that 50,'" said Pandey.
