Honor King With Days of Service

More than 350 residents participate in annual MLK community breakfast.

"This is a day on, not a day off," said Callie Crossley at Belmont's 18th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Breakfast held this morning, Monday, Jan. 16, at Belmont High School. The WGBH-radio host and an Academy Award nominated producer for an episode of the documentary, "Eyes on the Prize," Crossley told the 350 breakfast participants that the celebration of King's birthday – "this special time" – must be more than speeches of praise and a once-a-year acknowledgement of the greatness of the man. In the High School's cafeteria, filled to the brim with all ages, the celebration, entitled "Out of the Mountain of Despair, a Stone of Hope," included Crossley's main speech and performances by Belmont's Regie Gibson, the nationally-known …

Callie Crossley Keynote Speaker at Belmont’s MLK Community Breakfast

Annual event hosted by Belmont Against Racism to be held at Jan. 16 at Belmont High School.

Belmont’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Breakfast takes place Monday, Jan. 16, from 8:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Belmont High School Cafeteria. Award winning journalist, Callie Crossley, will be the keynote speaker. Slam poet, songwriter and author Regie Gibson will be the guest artist at the breakfast. Every year, the Belmont community gathers together to honor and celebrate the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  At the breakfast, a featured speaker provides new perspectives on issues of race and social justice, and challenges us to once again make the dream an active part of our lives. Radio Host Crossley to Headline BAR's annual King Breakfast

Callie Crossley, host of "The Callie Crossley Show" on Boston’s WGBH-FM, 89.7, will be the guest speaker at the 18th annual Belmont Against Racism Martin Luther King Community Breakfast on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012. In addition to her radio program, Crossley offers regular commentary on media for Beat the Press, which airs on Boston based WGBH-TV, and for Fox25 TV’s Morning News Show. She regularly moderates the TV program Basic Black also on WGBH-TV, and appears occasionally on national news and information programs including CNN’s Reliable Sources, The PBS News Hour, and The Takeaway, and is an occasional contributor to Tell Me More with Michel Martin.
