It was the perfect holiday for a Memorial Day parade. On "this beautiful day," Belmont residents came out in force to participate or just watch the annual parade and the yearly ceremony that takes place at the Belmont Cemetery to honor those residents who either served and/or gave their lives in service to the nation. With an escort from vets on motorcycles, local veterans, squads from the town's Police and Fire departments, DPW trucks, Girl and Boy scouts, military vehicles, local officials and the combined Belmont High and Chenery Middle schools marching bands set off from Cushing Square when the church bells from the United Methodist Church struck 11.
