Gallery of Art Plays It Green/Yellow/Blue

Reception for the artists, both from Belmont and around the region who tacked their art to the walls.

It was a (thumb) "tack"y reception Friday, May 3, artists, supporters and the staff of the Belmont Gallery of Art celebrated the closing reception of the springtime show, Green/Yellow/Blue, a non-traditional exhibit that included the use of one of more of the colors green, yellow and blue and are hung simply with either thumbtacks or clips; no frames or mats were allowed.

Gallery Reception for Green/Yellow/Blue Show

Tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Belmont Gallery of Art at the Town Hall complex.

What's blue, yellow and green and needs a thumbtack? That would be the latest installation at the Belmont Gallery of Art: Green/Yellow/Blue. And today, Friday, May 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. come join the join the artist's and the staff and supporters of the Belmont Gallery for refreshments and music in celebration the closing reception of this springtime exhibit, which showcased the work of Belmont and regional artists as well as an interactive installation put on by the BGA. Library Music, Last Picture Show on Belmont's Weekend Calendar

Don't let the pending weather keep you inside this weekend as Belmont will be home to two great artistic events. • Pianist Constantine Finehouse will be showing off the harmonically rich and flashy virtuosic techniques of 19th century romantic keyboard music as part of the Music of Saturday Concert Series at the Belmont Public Library.    See Finehouse perform on YouTube which is attached to this page. What Was Old Is Now New: Artists/Friends Join In Belmont Gallery of Art Show

Artists Elaine Fisher, Eric Myrvaagnes and A. David Wunsch will present their first joint exhibit after being colleagues for the past half century.

The Belmont Gallery of Art presents the New/Old Group, a photography exhibit featuring the work of artists Elaine Fisher, Eric Myrvaagnes and A. David Wunsch, Jan. 25 through Feb. 24. The show’s opening reception takes place Friday, Jan. 25, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Photographers Fisher, Myrvaagnes and Wunsch have exhibited widely and had individual shows during their separate artistic careers, but this is the first time the three will be showing their work together, somewhat surprising, considering the long connection they have to one another. Elaine Fisher, Eric Myrvaagnes and A. David Wunsch share a special bond that goes back almost 50 years to 1966 when they first met as young photography students …

Little Red Riding Hood at First Church Once Upon a Time ... Music and Stories featuring Seymour Barab's One-Act Children's Opera Little Red Riding Hood. The performances are on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at First Church in Belmont, Unitarian Universalist, 404 Concord Ave. Powers Music School is pleased to present this year's program, Little Red Riding Hood, written by esteemed composer Seymour Barab. The Art of Giving: Red Cross Blood Drive Today at Town Hall Art Gallery

Donations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the third floor of the Homer Building.

If you come to the Belmont Gallery of Art today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., not only will you be able to see the installation by artist Lee Strasburger, "Anatomy of Melancholy," you can help save a life. The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive in the Gallery located on the third floor of the Homer Building in the Town Hall complex located at 19 Moore St.  Donors will receive a free collectable Red Sox T-shirt and a voucher good for two great offers from Monro Muffler/Brake Service. The Red Cross' Massachusetts branch is seeking donations to meet expected patient demand after a summer where regular donors have been on vacation or been busy with summer activities. Oldies Concert, Art Exhibit Kicks Off One Book One Belmont

One Book One Belmont kicks off today with the first of two events that compliment this year's selection, Belmont resident Tom Perrotta's "The Leftovers." An opening reception will be held today, Friday, Sept. 14, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m for "Anatomy of Melancholy," an exhibit presented by the Belmont Gallery of Art, located on the third floor of the Homer Building in the Town Hall complex. The show presents haunting landscapes and seascapes by artist Lee Strasburger that complement the mood of "The Leftovers." Thanking Nan: Rogers Reception Saturday at the Gallery

Reception for long-time director of town's arts gallery will be held Saturday, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A reception honoring Nan Rogers for her work with the Belmont Gallery of Art will take place at the Belmont Gallery of Art on Saturday, June 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. It will be an opportunity for the town's artists and art lovers to thank Rogers for her tireless effort in not simply running the town's art gallery located on the third floor of the Homer Building in the Town Hall complex, but in her almost single-handed promotion of art and those who create it for nearly a decade. While Saturday will be an opportunity to say good bye to Rogers as an administrator, it will be an chance for the arts community to say hello to new gallery administrator, Juliana Rozeboom.

Displaying Personality: 'See You, See Me' Opening [Photos]

Belmont Gallery of Art opens its season with portraits by nearly 50 artists.

On Friday, a large number of artists, residents and art lovers attended the opening reception of the Belmont Gallery of Art's latest exhibit: 'See You, See Me, the art of the portrait.' Curated by Jennie Summerall, the works in several media including oils, watercolor, photography and print represent the artist's representation of a person's likeness and personality by focusing on their face. The exhibit will take place until Sunday, Nov. 30, in the gallery located on the third floor of the Homer Municipal Building, 19 Moore St., in the Town Hall complex.
