Today's Trash Pickup A Day Early, Repeat Tomorrow
Worried residents will have their Monday collection tomorrow as scheduled.
It's one of the most foreboding sounds for any suburban household: the rumbling of the garbage removal trucks coming down the street and you didn't put your weekly collection of trash and recyclables on the curbside. And many Belmont residents were awoken on this day after Christmas not by shiegh bells but of the noise of trash collection trucks on their assigned rounds. A day early, it turned out. As one Belmont Patch reader noted in horror: "How come a garbage truck is stopping on my street? Did I miss the most important garbage day of the year? Help!" And if there is a trash pickup most residents and commercial owner need to make is the day after Christmas with boxes, paper, broken wine glasses and what's left of the turkey carcass …

And if Russell Disposal has skipped your street for collection - and that includes Branchaud Road (where my trash is picked up!) as of Friday morning - you need to call the town's Department of Public Works at 617-993-2680 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.   more ›
