Fire Weather Watch in Effect for Today
A snowless winter and dry, windy conditions has elevated outdoor fire danger.
March might not go out like a lamb after all. On the heels of a remarkable warm and dry winter, the National Weather Service has issued a release saying conditions are ripe for any outdoor fire to start and spread quickly. Late Monday afternoon, March 26, an earlier hazardous weather outlook was elevated to a Fire Weather Watch for today, Tuesday, March 27. "Extremely dry air combined with gusty northwest winds and little rainfall over the last few weeks will result in critical fire weather conditions during Tuesday," the Service said, noting fires that start could spread rapidly and outdoor burning is not recommended.
