Cushing Village Loses Partner; Retail to be Reduced

Oaktree Development drops out; Starr predicts changes in design of $78 million project.

Developer Chris Starr will be going it alone creating a proposed large-scale retail, residential and parking project in the heart of Cushing Square. Saying that it had "too many irons in the fire" to partner with the Belmont native, Oaktree Development of Harvard Square sold its share in the $78 million, 225,000 square foot multi-use development dubbed Cushing Village to Starr for an undisclosed amount.  In addition to losing his long-time partner just as the project will come before the town for final approval to begin construction in the next few months, Starr, president of Smith Legacy Partners of Acton, revealed to Belmont Patch he is in the process of reconfiguring the development to enhance Cushing Village's "residential feel" while …
