Police Log: Thief Steals Bike, Returns to Purchase Lock

Another week of incidents reported by Belmont Police: an arrest does not indicate a conviction.

They ran off July 28 – A Pleasant Street resident left a pair of gold doors to a '68 Ford Mustang leaning against his garage last Sunday before going away. When he got back, the doors were not waiting for him. They were valued at $200. Man deposits fist into victim's face July 28 – Just before 5 p.m., a man was attempting to use the drive-in automated teller machine at the Bank of America on Trapelo Road in Waverley Square but found it difficult to do so because a Beamer was parked so close to the driveway. "Hey, don't park so close to the bank," said the man to the BMW owner after squeaking by. But that would not be the final word on this matter. Police Log: Arrest After Accident

The textbooks cost the most Sept. 9 – At 8:11 a.m., officers were called to a Richardson Road residence for a reported breaking and entering of a vehicle. Apparently, the thief broke a side window of the late-model Jeep to gain entry. Taken from the car were headphones, a sports bag and textbooks. Pricy pick-up Sept. 9 – Someone left their sunglasses unattended in the Belmont Country Club. The pair, worth $200, was stolen. He wanted a police report to send to his insurance company to recoup the loss. In the family Sept. 12 – A mother on Moraine Street called police to say that her teenage daughter has stolen a check from her. Police Log: Attempted Murder on Brighton and Cross

Here's Ole! Aug. 20 – At 51 minutes past midnight, officers were called to a Cushing Avenue address for an incident that they were told involved an axe. When they arrived, the caller, a woman waiting outside the dwelling, told them a man she knew broke down a door with an axe to get into a room she was located and then physically restrained her from leaving. The officers found a small axe and witnessed a hole chopped in an interior door. Arrested for assault and battery and intimidating a witness was Ole Moestrup, 56, of 58 Cushing Ave. The woman declined a temporary restraining order. Police Log: Sleepy Trespasser Arrested

Not who he said he was  Aug. 17 – Just after noon, a Woodbine Road resident told police that a person had called his house more than once identifying himself as a federal agent. The resident looked up on the web where the calls were coming from and discovered the caller was not a federal worker. Egg patrol Aug. 18 – At 8:29 p.m., a Blanchaud Road resident called the police after someone or some people had egged his home. The resident said he didn't want to file a formal report, just for the police to keep an eye on the area.  Sleepy ex behind bars Aug. 19 – At 6:06 a.m., a call came into the police station of a breaking and entering in progress on Burnham Street. Police Log: Disappearing bushes, fight club and PlayStation theft

Where did my bushes go? Aug. 5 – A Waterhouse Road resident called police concerning a dispute she was having with a landscaping business. The company had done a job a year ago and an employee said someone would be back for the bushes. She thought they were coming back to trim them. Instead, the landscaper removed them! The bushes were worth $800. After two days haggling, the firm said it would give the owner of the now bushless house $450. The police told her the dispute was really a matter best resolved in civil court. "Friend" or foe? Aug. 6 – A Beech Street resident called police to say that someone had reportedly hacked into her computer and created a Facebook page using her name, information and photo. Police Log: Kayak Takes a Journey in the Back of a Pickup

Early morning workout July 30 – Early in the morning, just after 4 a.m., police officers were sent to a Stewart Terrace address for an "out of control" man. Apparently, the adult son of the caller had been drinking through the night and the situation had turned serious. As officers alighted from their vehicles, they heard screaming and the sound of furniture being reduced to firewood. Inside, they discovered the 28-year-old son with cuts on his body and broken furniture "strewn around." As officers attempted to restore peace and order by communicating with the young man, the son swung and struck an officer. Police Log: Rolled coins rolled away

OUI on the Grove June 25 – At 2:22 a.m., a police patrol saw a Nissan traveling south on Grove that swerved on to the shoulder of the road. The car was also missing a head and tail light. The car was pulled over and the police noticed a strong odor of alcohol from his breath. The operator, Luis Marquerz, 46, from 29 Waverley Ave. in Watertown, was arrested of OUI, liquor, driving with an open container and other offenses.   Credit card crash landing June 26 – A Moraine Street resident called police for a report of identity theft. She received a call from American Airlines concerned about activity on her AA credit card. But the recent told them she had no idea she had that card. Someone in Texas had charged $3,400 on "her" card.  Rolls away…

Police Log: Man in Blue Attempts a Vodka Break

Teenage assault and battery  June 21 – At  7:33 p.m., police were called to a Richardson Road house for an assault. When they arrived, the homeowner said she and her teenage son had an argument about the son smoking cigarettes in the house. He responded by punching her and knocking her cell phone out of her hand as she attempted to call law enforcement. The 15-year-old Utah native was arrested for domestic A&B (the punch) and witness intimidation (knocking the cell phone away).  See you in People's Court June 24 – Police received a call from a Boston resident who hired a Concord contractor to renovate her Pleasant Street home. Left to be stolen June 17 – At 11:37 a.m., a Newton resident called police to say that two days before she was at McLean Hospital. After she locked her car, she went into the institution but forgot something; she left her pocketbook on the roof of her vehicle. When she returned, the handbag was "stolen." Missing: credit cards, personal papers and $100.  Fight to party June 18 –  At 12:44 a.m., police received a call from a Choate Road resident saying that two individuals were running through backyards. The caller suspected the people came a party close-by on Crescent Road. Officers found the two runners on Foster Road. Police Log: Car Stolen From Driveway ... Or Was It?

The stolen car June 14 – At 2:02 p.m., a Channing Road resident called police to report his mother's car, a 2002 Honda, had been stolen from the driveway. He said he did not know who would take it, adding that he had his mother's keys with him. But, hold on, there's more to this story ... Now, the misplaced car June 15 – At 8:27 a.m., Arlington Police called Belmont Police to say that they located the stolen 2002 Honda owned by the Channing Road woman.
