Seniors Honored for Community Service Above and Beyond
Entire class contributed nearly 1,000 hours to volunteering in town, schools.
Every year at the recognition ceremony for students who went above and beyond volunteering in the school and the community, Belmont High School's Community Service Coordinator Alice Melnikoff said that once she would like to go through the entire event without tearing up. But that is nearly impossible to do when Melnikoff recounts all the work and involvement by the student's she advised throughout the school year. Forty seniors were awarded President's Volunteer Service Awards in Bronze (for those students who committee between 100 to 174 hours of community service), Silver (175 to 249 hours) and Gold (more than 250 hours) in the celebration on Tuesday, May 22, in the Chenery Middle School Auditorium.
