Asst. DA Lawn Readies Jump into Special Senate Race

Sheila Lawn, assistant Suffolk County district attorney and sister of Watertown state Rep. John Lawn, has opened a campaign account to support a bid for the vacant Senate district last held by Steven Tolman, who departed last month to run the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, according to the State House News Service. Lawn, a Boston resident living in the Brighton neighborhood, would be the second Boston-based candidate in the race, joining attorney Tim Schofield in a crowded field of Democratic contenders vying for the seat in a January special election with a Dec. 13 primary. Brownsberger Opens Campaign HQ in Waverley

Belmont Rep. opens office with five weeks left in campaign before Dec. 13 party primary.

Fueled by donuts from Belmont Street's Linda's Donuts, State Rep. Will Brownsberger joined a few dozen volunteers this past Saturday, Nov. 5, to open the new headquarters at 495 Trapelo Rd. of the Will Brownsberger for State Senate campaign office. "Our mission right now is to make sure that people know about the special election on Dec. 13. Brownsberger Takes in $40K in Opening Week of Senate Campaign

Also picks up first endorsements in race with Watertown's state rep. Hecht.

In the first week of his campaign for the 2nd Suffolk & Middlesex district seat, Democrat State Rep. Will Brownsberger announced today, Wednesday, Oct. 19, that he has taken in $40,000 in contributions. The Belmont resident also announced that the Belmont Democratic Town Committee and the Cambridge Ward 11 Democrats voted to endorse him this week. Currently, only Watertown State Rep. Jonathan Hecht is challenging Brownsberger to fill the seat formerly held by new AFL-CIO president Steven Tolman.  The primary election will take place Tuesday, Dec. 13 with the general election on Tuesday, Jan. 10. Republican Announces Run for Tolman's Senate Seat

Watertown's Aylward acknowledges tough race to fill seat in Second Suffolk and Middlesex.

While democrats are positioning themselves for a run to fill the vacant senate seat held by State Sen. Steve Tolman, the winner now knows he will face at least one candidate in a general election. Steven Aylward, chairman of the Watertown Republican Town Committee, announced that he is running for the republican nomination for the Second Suffolk and Middlesex senatorial district. The district – the Second Suffolk and Middlesex District – covers Watertown, Belmont, parts of Cambridge and several areas of Boston: Allston, Brighton, the South End and Back Bay.
