UPDATE: Vandalism Victims Express Anger, Sadness For Senseless Acts

Wide swath of Belmont hit by assailants who smashed vehicle glass and front windows.

Dr. Joan Horgan was expecting a busy day at work today. As the director of spiritual care for the Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, the former computer employee turned pastural leader, Good Friday is a particularly important day for the patients she shepherds who are suffering in pain.  But Horgan was spending this day cleaning glass shards off the floor and furniture in her rented first floor Wiley Road apartment after an unknown assailant took a wine bottle from a recycling bin and threw it through her front window, one of dozens of examples of violence against residents throughout Belmont that occurred in the dark, early morning hours of this Good Friday. Belmont Hit By Early Morning Vandals

Police investigating neighborhoods targeted by assailants smashing windshields, front windows.

Belmont Police is investigating numerous acts of vandalism early this morning, April 22, targeting neighborhoods in the Pequosette Park area and individual houses throughout town. Car windows were smashed along Vincent Avenue and Maple Street and front windows were broken on Wiley Road, Slade Street and Raleigh Road. Residents said the larceny was unusual for the areas.  Belmont Police said they do not have any suspects as of noon, today, but are following leads from eyewitnesses that the perpetrators were "kids."  Belmont Patch will be updating the incident with interviews, videos, and photos throughout the day.
