A second flu clinic will be held this afternoon from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the bank's main branch.
People entering the lobby of the main branch of Belmont Savings Bank in Belmont Center Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 16, were not seeking to make a deposit to their account. Rather, a steady stream of residents were lining up to make a withdrawal from the vaccine bank as Belmont Savings teamed up with Mount Auburn Hospital to provide free flu shots to any healthy individual coming to the bank over two days. "Step up," said Katherine Rafferty from the hospital's community affairs office as people wandered in the office at 2 Leonard St. A second free flu clinic will occur this afternoon, Thursday, Jan. 17, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bank's Belmont Center location. "Are you here for the flu shot?" added Mount Auburn Marketing Department's …

Shots will be available for adults over the age of 18, and teenagers ages 13 to 18 with …

"In my eyes, no one has paid it forward more than this family."
To the editor: It is with a heavy heart that I share the news with all of you that Laurie Graham’s beloved husband Daniel Downey died suddenly on Wednesday. Dan was the IT go-to guy at the high school adored by the students and teachers alike for his ability to connect them to 21st Century teaching skills. As many of you know, Laurie has devoted her life to helping children and families here in Belmont through her many volunteer positions such as the Chairwoman of the School Committee, Co-Chair of the Belmont Special Education Advisory Council, Food Pantry organizer, library and Council on Aging volunteer, Wellington Building Committee member, and more – countless hours of volunteer work to benefit the Belmont population. In my eyes, no …

Belmont Center turns on the lights and welcomes the holidays.
Under a silvery moon, the lights glowed bright in Belmont Center Thursday night, Nov. 29, as Santa Claus hit the switch to offically signal the beginning of this holiday season. And this year's Turn on the Town holiday and Christmas tree lighting, the 22nd edition sponsored by the Belmont Center Business Association, was one of the best attended with families and teens wandering Leonard Street partaking in the face painting, cupcakes, fried dough, free hot chocolate and a petting zoo with actual llamas. In addition, Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman greeted little ones as the Belmont High School Madrigal Singers entertained though the night as "snow" fell from the roof of the Belmont Savings Bank's garage. But the real attraction Thursday …

Why isn't BSB CEO Bob Mahoney ever seen in the same room with "Tom"?
That was no turkey people saw entering the Belmont Savings Bank Monday afternoon, Nov. 20. In fact, that was Belmont Savings' President and CEO Robert Mahoney wearing the over-sized turkey costume. But this was not a bank promotional gone bad or the long-time banker paying off a losing bet. For the second time in as many years, Mahoney played 'Tom Turkey' delivering fresh holiday birds to bank employees a few days before Thanksgiving. Mahoney – who for the past two years has been in charge at Belmont Savings – made the rounds Monday to each branch office, the backroom operation on Concord Avenue and finally finishing at the main office just before closing, carrying 125 birds around Waltham, Watertown and Belmont for staff to take home. "…
