US Premiere of 'The Dead and the Living' at Studio Cinema

The Belmont Studio Cinema will be hosting the US premiere of German film, "The Dead and the Living," Monday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m., part of Belmont World Film's "Found in Translation" annual international film festival. An official selection at the Viennale, the film, by Austrian filmmaker Barbara Albert, concerns a young German woman (Anna Fischer) who embarks on an expedition into her family's past during World War II, setting her on a personal journey that takes her from Berlin to Romania via Vienna and Warsaw and into the abyss of modern European society. Belmont World Film's 12th Annual Film Festival Begins Tonight

Eight films, one month, many languages and cultures under the theme "Found in Translation."

Eight films, one month and many languages and cultures will be presented during Belmont World Film's 12th annual International Film Festival beginning tonight, March 11 and lasting until April 29. Movies from Argentina, Germany, Turkey, Italy and France will be shown at Belmont's Studio Cinema over the next month and a half, including two US premieres. The festival begins tonight at 7:30 p.m. with the New England premiere of "Chinese Takeaway," a 2011 comedy from Argentina about two men thrown together by fate from two very different back-rounds, one Chinese and the other Argentine, both cannot understand each others language. Belmont World Film Presents the Full Moon on Screen

Two movies about all things lunar along with a special presentation on the phases of the moon.

There will be a full moon over Belmont on Saturday. But you can only truly enjoy the event indoors at Belmont's Studio Cinema as Belmont World Film celebrates its "Full Moon Festival" in which all things lunar will be presented. Films include an encore screening of "Lotte and the Moonstone Secret" (for ages 3-7) at 10:30 a.m. and "Moon Man" (ages 7 and up) based on the bestselling children's book by Tomi Ungerer, at 1 p.m. After the film, there will be a discussion of the phases of the moon with Amanda Thompson from Boston's Museum of Science's Hayden Planetarium. Magic Is Happening at Belmont's Studio Cinema Friday

Documentary "Make Believe" about teen magicians and a live show from one of the film's stars presented by Belmont World Film as part of its annual Family Film Festival.

You will believe in magic tonight at 7 p.m. at Belmont's Studio Cinema as the Belmont World Film's 10th Annual Family Film Festival presents "Make Believe," the 2010 award-winning coming-of-age documentary that follows six teenagers from around the world as they vie for the title of "Best Teen Magician" at a special ceremony in Las Vegas. The film, which won best documentary at the LA Film Festival, will be followed by a live magic show by teen magician Bill Cook from Chicago who appears in the film.  And there will also be free ice cream treats donated by Moozy's at the screening. The Magic Of Friday Family Films

Belmont World Films decade-long series begins tonight at MFA, Boston

The magic of an opening night will be just that as Belmont World Film's celebrates its 10th Annual Family Film Festival at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston with the first of two "Magic Fridays" during the festival. The festival begins with the magic of The Magic Piano, The Chopin Shorts, and a live performance by Leonard Solomon and His Bellowphone tonight at 7 p.m. This group of wordless animated short films, all created by Academy Award-winning Breakthru Films (Peter and the Wolf), are connected by a soundtrack featuring Chopin's magical Etudes performed by celebrated Chinese pianist Lang Lang. Continuing Support For World Film Online, At The Bank

You can still celebrate Belmont's own international film festival's 10th anniversary by continuing to bid on its auction on the internet and by opening an account at Belmont Savings Bank.

The festivities may have ended but fans, patrons and residents can continue supporting a decade of the Belmont World Film, the town's own international film festival, with a bid or by banking in your hometown.
