Wellington Carnival this Saturday One of the biggest family events of the school year is back this year as the annual Wellington Carnival returns Saturday, March 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to the Wenner Field House at Belmont High School for hours of fun for children and their caregivers. Join the Wellington Elementary School community as everyone enjoys traditional carnival games including Krazy Kans, ring toss, putt and win, Castle bounce, and slide, as well as sand art, balloon animals, hula hoping, face painting, arts and crafts, bake sale, gently-used book sale and more. The library will be open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
It's the middle of the month and that means the Benton Library at the corner of Oakley and Old Middlesex roads will be holding it's Saturday Book Sale on Feb. 16, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The sale will feature a wide variety of reasonably-priced books including adult fiction, literature and non-fiction, a small selection of antiquarian books and vintage children’s books. The sale's proceeds will benefit the Benton, Belmont's independent and volunteer-run library. The Library's hours are Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., The library is open from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the first Friday of the month and on one Saturday a month for its book sale.

1. The Belmont Garden Club will be having a six-hour Greens Workshop, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Assembly Room in the Belmont Public Library. Residents celebrate the Opening Day on Sunday, May 22.
Victor Kruglov is extremely excited the Everett C. Benton Library has opened its doors to the public. The fourth grader at the Wellington Elementary School lives two houses away from the historic stone building and loves his job as a volunteer “putting books back on the shelves.” It’s important work, Victor said, to keep the library organized and tidy that he will perform on Saturdays and Sundays. Opening culminates rescue of historic building into an all-volunteer run community library.
Elizabeth Gibson, president of The Friends of the Benton Library, wants all Belmont residents to know one thing about Sunday's event at the historic building. “We want everyone to feel welcome,” she said. After years of work by the Friends, a neighborhood group and the Benton Library Reuse Committee, the grand reopening is finally taking place on Sunday, May 22 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the building on the corner of Oakley Road and Old Middlesex Street.
