Belmont's Town Administrator also not selected for North Andover's top town post.
The Winchester Board of Selectmen Thursday night, Oct. 27, selected Richard Howard, Malden's current mayor, as the town's next Town Manager, skipping over fellow finalist Belmont's Town Administrator Tom Younger. This was the second time this month that Younger was in the last group to become a Town Manager but failed to garner the votes. Two weeks ago, Younger lost out to Andrew Maylor, the Swampscott Town Administrator, for the position in North Andover. The other finalists for the Winchester post was Andrew Bisignani, Saugus Town Manager. Maylor was also in consideration for the Winchester position before being hired in North Andover. Belmont's Town Administrator now one of three finalist for Winchester's TM position.
Belmont's Town Administrator Tom Younger missed out on his first opportunity to become a Town Manager. North Andover's Selectmen voted unanimously Monday night, Oct. 17, to hire Swampscott Town Administrator Andrew Maylor to be North Andover's permanent town manager. "Change is a good thing," Selectman Chair Tracy Watson said after the vote was taken. "Not everyone likes change, but I think change is good. I’m excited, it’s a new day for the community." Belmont's Town Administrator Tom Younger is one popular government official. Already a finalist to become the next town manager in nearby Winchester, Belmont's top government employee was selected Monday night as one of four final candidates to become the new Town Manager in North Andover, according to North Andover Patch.
